Charity!

This is Charity's Story as we know it, if she could only tell us more....

Charity came from an over capacitated Kill Shelter in L.A. county. Picked up from the street. Dirty, matted, with ticks and fleas.
Charity was listed as a Shih Tzu mix, 3 and a half to 4 years old, and underweight at only 10 pounds.
No Microchip, No Collar, so No Tags and No Name. NO One came for her...
WE saw Her Shelter picture... WE came for Her.
The Shelter had stripped her of her matted coat when we came to Rescue her, they had treated her for ticks and fleas, gave her vaccines, dewormed her, and thought she might have kennel cough so she was given meds for that too.
The shelter Vet said that there were no other obvious health problems detected with their limited exam resources.
When taking pictures of her we noticed she has a distinctive Heart patch. How fitting!
This is Charity several weeks after we rescued her.

Shelter Picture
Fast forward... Charity has been spayed, probably didn't have kennel cough, but has struggles with allergies. She has seen three different Vets since the shelter Vet, for spay, blood work, UTI treatment, and recently again for having severe allergy attacks. At Charity's last Vet visit for the allergy attacks, her Vet says she has a progressing trachea problem probably due to genetics.
In spite of Charity's hardships, she is loving, bursts with Joyful Zoomies, and adores attention! She is very independent, house broken, crate trained, loves toys, loves to eat chicken, organic fruits and vegetables, and understands some commands but at her own discretion of course! Whatever her previous life was, it's obvious she was very much Loved.
Sadly, Charity has some insecurities probably due to experiences that she fell victim to since she was separated from her Loving relationships. She is people selective and can be aggressive especially towards men, cats, and dogs. Most likely she was abused and attacked as she fought to survive before being picked up and left at the Shelter.
The shelter handlers and Vet were female and said she was sweet and submissive. We soon discovered that she had fear when just hearing Men's voices, not to mention, a direct encounter. We constantly have been working on her trust issues. When she feels safe, she seems to be intuitive and more trusting, rather than reactive. With her two understanding male Vets, she relaxes, feels secure, and enjoys their attention.
A young man with time and patience, has Successfully
and thoroughly won Charity over! We
have lots of hope for her.

Charity's biggest challenge now will be finding the best path to navigate her trachea needs. We have researched, asked Veterinarians, and learned that apparently this can be a fragile, difficult problem to manage. There are not many successful solutions, but we believe
in Miracles and will give her every fighting chance for a normal life. She isn't to the point where the surgery risk is her last hope, but the balance of maintenance and monitoring care can be challenging and pricey. We hope to find a way for her to continue her new found happiness as comfortably as possible.
Please help Charity receive the special medical attention she needs.
We would like it if she could be provided whatever is necessary to
allow her the best Quality of Life.

Charity is full of Life and deserves a chance to Live it! Thank YOU so much for Your Love and Support for Charity!
Bodie!
on Deck

Bodie came to us as an Owner surrender. His Pawrent is elderly and was in need of assistance with his growing medical needs.
The rising costs of Vet bills, dog food, healthy supplements, etc., are difficult to manage on a fixed income.
Bodie is a 10 year old gentleman with health issues that need attention. He has a few lumps that are benign, hip issues, and in need of dental care.
Bodie is in need of a current blood work up to determine organ condition, as well as x-rays. Also, He has allergy issues that have been managed well with Benadryl and supplements.
Bodie is currently being Fostered by someone he knows, so he is a very content and happy fella, not feeling any anxiety and can still visit with his Pawrent.

Bodie loves to go for walks, play with toys... especially his soccer ball, eat chicken and organic carrots and apples. He hates cats, and not readily friendly with all dogs. Bodie is crate trained, house broken, knows some commands, but not entirely happy with car rides unless he is sitting on someone's lap. He can be a little hesitant with some people but never rude. The good news is he likes people the most who let him sit on their lap!

Bodie is a really nice little guy, with a lot of Love to give and a lot of Life to Live!
We Thank you so much for your love and generosity!
Bodie Thanks You for helping him Live his Best Life!
